Our final session of 2023 we featured three disclosure experts from ERM with extensive experience across a range of frameworks, standards, and ratings agencies. Our panelists reflected on the several disclosure-related events of 2023 and speculated on what each might mean for the ratings and disclosure landscape in 2024.

Speaker biographies

Paul Simpson

Paul Simpson, Consulting Partner, ERM
Paul a Partner for Corporate Sustainability and Climate Change. Paul joined ERM on 2nd October 2023 and is based in London.

Paul brings a wealth of experience of corporations and financial institutions actions on climate change and sustainability with a large network across the ecosystem and deep expertise in disclosure and science-based targets.

Paul was an early pioneer of climate and environmental disclosure as a Co-founder and CEO of CDP. There Paul grew the organisation from inception to £50m income p.a. and over 550 staff globally. CDP has driven over 18,000 corporations to disclose their climate and environmental performance creating the world’s largest dataset of self-reported data. In addition to CDP Paul was involved in the creation of SBTi, We Mean Business the TCFD and the ISSB. Paul received an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for services to Tackling Climate Change, in Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday 2022 Honours List.

Caitlin Brown

Caitlin Brown, Managing Consultant, ERM

Caitlin is a consultant in ERM’s London office who has spent the last three years working with global companies developing leading sustainability strategies, supporting business resilience in the face of emerging ESG risks and opportunities. Caitlin has in-house and consulting experience managing complex multi-stakeholder projects from goal-setting to change management. She is experienced in stakeholder engagement processes, materiality assessments, establishing effective governance, and sustainability reporting. Since joining ERM Caitlin's experience has spanned sectors ranging from pharmaceutical to finance. Prior to joining ERM, Caitlin spent three years working in-house within a UK supermarket, defining and delivering the company's sustainability strategy across both operations and value chain.

Johann Weicht

Johann Weicht, Partner, ERM

Johann works with organisations to enhance their oversight of sustainability-related issues and to subsequently improve their strategies and performance. His core expertise is in climate change and sustainable finance with a track record in: 

  • Strategy and governance: materiality, targets and roadmaps, risk management and management system integration, internal reporting, assurance readiness 
  • Sustainable operations: performance assessments and improvement plans, process analysis and design, training programmes and facilitation 
  • Finance and capital markets: reporting strategy, ratings and rankings, ESG-linked product design and performance reviews, M&A / ESG due diligence
