The Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ) has recognized ERM with an Industry Leadership Award for our work helping organizations determine and respond to the business, legal, physical, and social consequences of the transition to a lower-carbon economy. The Environmental Business Journal (EBJ) has honored ERM with a Business Achievement Award for mergers and acquisitions, a Social Contribution Award for the ERM Foundation and a Project Merit Award in Remediation for the Resolution Copper projects in Arizona, NA.

CCBJ INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP: LOW-CARBON ECONOMY
With the appointments of global and regional leaders in 2019, ERM has significantly increased its focus on supporting clients manage the long-term business risks and opportunities related to climate change and other key sustainability topics. With investor and customer pressure accelerating, the company enjoyed a 30% growth in its corporate sustainability and climate change revenue during its 2020 fiscal year. ERM further strengthened its bench through the strategic acquisitions of BrownFlynn and SustainAbility.

EBJ BUSINESS ACHIEVEMENT: MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS
ERM completed several key acquisitions in 2019 to bolster global capabilities to deliver successful outcomes from ‘boots to boardroom’ – impacting from the ground level to the most senior levels of our clients’ organizations. This includes the acquisition of The Fifth Business, SustainAbility, CSA Global and Contek Solutions LLC.

EBJ SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION: ERM FOUNDATION
Unlike traditional company-sponsored foundations, the ERM Foundation is led by ERM employees who nominate organizations for funding, provide hands-on professional support for partner organizations, review funding applications, and lead regional engagement committees. Through this structure, ERM has created a unique and valuable partnership with its employees, under which every employee across 160 worldwide offices can be personally involved in a Foundation program. This past year ERM employees raised $141,000 and delivered 1,910 hours of pro bono support for 69 organizations across 30 countries.

EBJ PROJECT MERIT: REMEDIATION
ERM was recognized by Resolution Copper as the mining company’s 2019 Supplier of the Year for its work on the West Plant Smelter Complex and East Plant Cooling Towers demolition projects in Superior, Arizona. The project included the abatement and demolition of 11 facility structures and the implosion of a 300-foot chimney stack on the historic Magma Copper mine site. In addition to this work, the ERM team completed the project with over 10,300 hours of fieldwork without any injuries or incidents. “ERM was committed to conducting the project with the highest regard for the health and safety of our client, our field personnel, and the community of Superior,” said Tony Parenteau, an ERM partner.
