Yörükcan is leading ERM's work on engineered / durable carbon dioxide removals (CDR), including direct air capture (DAC), bioenergy with CCS (BECCS), biochar, enhanced weathering, and concrete mineralisation. His work involves delivering techno-economic analysis, techno-commercial due diligence, project integrity assessment, market sizing, and MRV (monitoring, verification, and reporting) review. Yorukcan is also highly specialised in voluntary carbon markets (VCM) and global decarbonisation policies, particularly as it related to engineered CDRs. He has led a series of projects advising the UK Government about their current CDR business models based on carbon CfDs and their approach to CDR certification. As a member of the GGR Future Leaders Network, Yorukcan represents ERM's view on CDR policy at several external organisations.
ERM is proud to be attending and speaking at the CCUS Conference!
The conference is the largest Carbon Capture conference in the world attracting around 1,000 delegates internattionally from around the world.
CCS is one of the fastest growing industrial sectors globally, predicted to see a 15-fold growth in projects between 2025 and 2035. ERM is expecting a lot of energy around the UK projects this year given the government recommitment to the CCS clusters and the recent EU announcement of €2Trillion investment in the sector.
Key themes for this year's CCUS conference include delivering the first 4 UK clusters and beyond, the EU Clean Industrial Deal, learnings from other countries, cross-border frameworks, CO2 transport and further NPT development, strategies for cost reduction, delivering CDR/GGRs, COP30 and the implementation of Article 6.4, and much more.
ERM are delighted to once again support the CCSA conference and have an active role in delivery of a climate critical technology. ERM have been involved in Carbon Capture and Storage for more than 20 years. We supported pioneer projects in the 2000’s and 2010’s and are now working at the forefront of the industry. ERM bring together industry, technology suppliers, regulators and stakeholders right across the value chain to deliver local, national and international scale CCS projects. We are embedded throughout projects, working with governments and industrial clients to develop decarbonisation strategy and secure funding; support with the full range of environmental, social and technical safety issues; and manage projects from the capture plants themselves through to onshore storage, pipelines, marine and subsurface. Alongside this our carbon and climate change teams work with clients to maximise the financial benefits of CCS and develop resilient and long lived projects.
