2012 will bring important sustainability milestones, most notably the 25th anniversary of the Brundtland Commission, set up by the UN to investigate environmental concerns, and Rio 2012. Rio 2012 is a successor to the 1992 Earth Summit, heralded at the time as a turning point in the way in which society, the environment and the economy interrelate. As the Earth Summit’s anniversary approaches, is there more hope for sustainability than there is for the financial markets? Where would you place your bets?
