Climate Issues Important But Less Urgent for Sustainability Pros

19 Sep 2011 – SA in the News

GreenBiz.com reports on findings from SustainAbility and GlobeScan’s most recent Sustainability Survey, this time on Key Challenges and Industry Performance.

From the article:

While climate, energy and water remain top concerns, those issues don’t hold the same urgency as they once did for sustainability professionals. That’s one of the sobering findings in a report published today by research firm GlobeScan Inc. and think tank and strategy consultancy SustainAbility Ltd.

SustainAbility Senior Vice President Jeff Erikson and GlobeScan’s Chris Coulter are quoted on what’s behind the decline in urgency, including mounting worry over economic issues and/or the possibility that sustainability experts may be beginning to accept these issues as a permanent part of the landscape.

The survey also shows that experts see a growing gap between how different industries are performing and what will be needed to achieve sustainability.
