On Friday, 3 September 2010, Alexander Nick received the top prize in the Economics and Business Environment category of the ecch European Case Awards, for the case he wrote while working as a Research Associate at IMD Lausanne: Transforming the Global Fishing Industry: The Marine Stewardship Council at Full Sail?. The European Case Awards recognize case studies that in a given category have been most utilized as learning tools in business schools and universities worldwide. The hope is that this award demonstrates increasing momentum around resourced-based business concerns, and what must become a relentless and urgent search for innovative solutions to some of the world’s most formidable sustainability challenges and resulting business risks.

The case that Alexander wrote, under the supervision of Professor Ulrich Steger and Dr. Aileen Ionescu-Somers, explores the challenges of transforming markets and business models related to fish consumption, to make them more sustainable. More information can be found on IMD’s website.
