Making displacement work for everyone
Around the world, and especially in developing nations, we are seeing protests and disruptions related to new infrastructure and industrial projects ranging from dams to ‘Special Economic Zones’. The protestors claim that such projects will harm the interests and livelihoods of communities at the sites – especially where they face land loss and displacement. This issue brief explores ways in which companies that displace can ensure the rights of the displaced are respected – and in the best of cases, responsible companies can leave them economically and socially better off.
